Baby Liam came a month early.

Well early on the 22nd of Feb. my water broke and so Paul and I made a trip to the hospital. I was a little distraught because it was not time yet...I still had four more weeks until the baby was supposed to come. Liam I guess was ready to be here whether I was ready or not. Paul and I had just begun our childbirth class the night before my water broke. I was definitely not prepared to have the baby yet. It was 7 am when we got to the hospital, the nurse checked me in and then put the fetal monitor on and put an IV in my arm with an antibiotic. I was having some contraction that were consistant for a short while and then they became far apart. The midwife came in with a student midwife around 10 am. They talked to me for awhile and suggested to start me on Pitocin, which I did not want anything to do with. Luckily for me the OB on call from Women Health said it was ok not to start pitocin and just wait and see how thing go. A few hours later I was able to get up and walk around which made the contraction come more frequently and steady...until I sat down then they would spread out again. Finally around 3 pm my contractions stayed steady no matter what I was doing. Well labor continued and at 2:30 am I was in a lot of pain and was exhausted so I opted for the epidural, which almost didn't work. After that was started I was able to take a nap and then at 7:11 on Feb 23rd 2011 in the morning Liam Marcus Michie was born, healthy and strong despite being a month early. Liam spent a few hours in NICU until his temperature and blood sugar levels were normal and then he joined me in the recovery room. Paul was amazing throughout the whole process. He was very supportive and loving while he helped me remain calm and relaxed through labor and the delivery. He was able to spend time with Liam in NICU while I got to take a nap. We came home from the hospital on the 24th after we spent the day waiting for the pediatrition to come and check Liam and make sure he was ok to go home. It was nice to be back home. My mom came up and stayed with us until Sunday. While she was here I was able to relax and adjust to being a mom. My mom made a blanket that fit in the car seat to keep Liam warm when traveling. It was fun having my mom here.

Third Trimester....

Well it is offically the third and last trimester....

I am glad that the second trimester went fairly well but it went by super fast, which I guess is a good thing. Now that I am in the final stages, I am finally looking pregnant I feeling like a beached whale.

I get tons of comments about how "little I am" and how I have not "poked out" yet. It drives me crazy because many people want me to be "fatter" than I am. I have gained exactly 20 pounds since my first doctors visit, and I am THE HEAVIEST I HAVE EVER BEEN IN MY LIFE, which is very unsettling for me and a little depressing and when people tell me I am not big enough then I just want to cry!! I know I am supposed to gain weight during pregnancy but I don't need to be huge to have a healthy and strong baby. For all those who think I am too small and that it is not fair...I am sorry. I don't have much control over have my body reacts and gains weight when pregnant. I do have a small body frame and a long torso for my size, so that does make me LOOK smaller than I really am. There are still ten weeks to go unless something unexpected happens, in which I will gain 1/2 pound a week, which should put me five pounds more, but probably more like ten cause I am always hungry.

Pretty much I am saying that I would love to be validated in my feeling of: feeling very fat and not be made to feel bad because other people were bigger than me. I am sorry that they were bigger. Self-image in pregnancy is hard!! It sucks too look and feel huge no matter who you are.

On a more happy note and not a 'wo is me' ,......the baby has been moving around a lot these days, especially today. It feels like he is trying out some new dance moves or something. It is really awesome to feel him! It does make it hard to be in one place for very long though...I am always having to shift positions.

Well that is all for now.

Second trimester...

Let's hope this three months goes better than the first. I have a feeling it won't be much different except I will be getting bigger faster. My pants are starting to cut me off in the middle....all I want to do is wear sweats, and baggy clothes.  I wish the heartburn would go away, and my appetite would come back. I am always hungry but nothing sounds or looks very good, so I eat but I don't enjoy eating very much these days, all the fun is gone. :)

We're gonna have a baby!

This will be our first child.

I am not loving being pregnant. The hormones have been going crazy today. Do to those crazy pregnancy hormones, I hurt one of my friends feelings today, which makes me super depressed and wishing I was only normal again. I have a hard to filtering my thoughts before I say things now...especially when I am feeling lousy.

Today I feel lousy, and I did not sleep very well last night. I woke up with my stomach musles aching, my lower back sore, and my hip shooting pain everytime I take a step. I am falling apart and have no say over what is going on with my body.....which make me upset.

Don't get me wrong, even with all the complaints I am excited to be expecting a baby. I just don't enjoy all the changes.

I am about 11 and a half weeks pregnant. Can't wait to be in the second trimester....everyone says things start to get better.  I just hope my appetite returns. When I think about food I just get nauseas and depressed. Nothing tastes the way it is supposed to anymore.  I don't enjoy my new sense of smell. I liked it when I had to get close to smell things. Now at work I can smell a dirty diaper from the other side of the room, it is so disgusting.

I don't enjoy the mood swings. Why can't you just be normal and pregnant, why does everything have to change, and I mean everything? (not just your wieght....which would be fine if I wasn't so emotional these days)

Wow it has been a long time......

....since I have blogged. I love reading my friends blogs who actually blog regularly. I am amazed by the things that my friends are doing with their lives.

My life is pretty mundane.

Fun times!

Do you remember what is was like to just color with sidewalk chalk, or shoot water guns?

Oh it is good to be a 'kid', if only life could always be carefree and FUN.
Paul and I have a goal to NEVER GROW UP, and today I got to live like a kid for a moment or too.
Another fun time was singing with the toddlers this afternoon, it was enjoyable and the kids had fun too.

I guess being a kid isn't always fun or carefree. As an adult I forget the moments when life as a kid wasn't so fun, which I suppose is the way it should be. No one wants to remember the not so fun times.

Those fun little moments that happen during the day are cherished and sometimes rare in every day routines. I am glad that I had some good fun times today.

Exercising Fun

We are now memebers of the YMCA, so we went and used the gym. It was great.
A little exercise makes for a good nights rest.
30 minutes on the ecliptical machine is brutal for someone like me who hasn't worked out forever.
